Acupressure treatment

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is a hands-on healing therapy grounded in the same principles as Traditional Chinese Medicine that underlie acupuncture. Instead of needles, the practitioner uses their fingers, thumbs, and palms to apply targeted pressure to specific points on the body, encouraging the natural flow of energy and prompting the body's own healing response.

Sessions take place with the client fully clothed on a comfortable massage table. The practitioner works with varying levels of pressure — from very gentle and light touch to firmer, sustained holds — adjusting the approach to suit each individual's needs, comfort level, and the nature of what is being addressed.

Acupressure is deeply relaxing, and many clients find it an accessible introduction to energy-based healing — particularly those who prefer not to use needles or who are new to Chinese medicine traditions.

Chi and the Meridian Pathways

Like acupuncture, acupressure works with the body's network of meridians — the pathways through which vital life force energy, known as chi (or qi), travels throughout the body. These meridians connect the surface of the body to the internal organs, glands, and systems, forming an energetic map of the whole person.

When chi flows freely and without obstruction, the body is in a state of health and equilibrium. When the flow of chi is disrupted — whether by physical tension, emotional stress, illness, or lifestyle factors — imbalance and symptoms begin to emerge.

By applying mindful pressure to specific acupressure points along the meridians, a practitioner can help release blockages, restore balance, and encourage the free movement of chi through the affected pathways. This supports the body's natural capacity to heal itself from within.
